How To Wear Coloured Stripes

They say a zebra never changes its stripes, but after seeing the Resort 2015 collections from the likes of Escada, Diane Von Furstenberg, Kenzo and Rebecca Minkoff, we think they might be tempted.

Stripes certainly ruled the runways, appearing in a mix of colours and thicknesses on everything from skirts and dresses to wide legged pants and jumpers, for a look that is both versatile and exciting. Pinstripe, wide stripe, horizontal, vertical or even both – it’s time to stripe up.

For easy dressing, look no further than the casual striped tops and jumpers of Thakoon, Tibi and See by Chloe – the perfect companion to your favourite pair of trusty jeans. Stripes were spotted in a rainbow of colours including blush and raspberry at Missoni, Versace, Bottega Veneta and Diane Von Furstenberg while it was tangy and fresh orange at See by Chloe. For a youthful look try the wide striped handkerchief hem dresses of Stella McCartney or choose bold contrasting colours like powder blue and red to channel the gorgeously chic almost Parisien-esque style of Rebecca Minkoff.

For those wanting a subtler more office-appropriate look, the muted two-tone stripes at Mulberry, Escada and Tibi are for you. Our favourite take on stripes for the season? Kenzo’s abstract and geometric blue stripes have certainly got our attention and we bet they won’t be around for long. So what are you waiting for? Get your racing stripes on.
